Hello Saddleback family,
In the past few months my sweet little rescue Valentino was diagnosed with Cushing’s disease. As a result of the disease Valentino has all the symptoms listed below. Currently treating a bladder infection and last month he suffered a complete tare of his ACL on back leg due to muscle weakness from the disease. Vet said surgery is Not an option. So he struggles to hop with 3 legs that are weakening.
- increased thirst
- Recurring bladder infections
- increased urination
- Muscle weakness (atrophy of muscles)
- increased appetite
- reduced activity
- excessive panting
- thin & fragile skin
- hair loss
- recurrent skin infections
- enlargement of the abdomen, resulting in a "potbellied" appearance
Treating Cushing's disease is a balancing act. Valentino needs to be monitored closely by a veterinarian. The doctor said I need to bring him in for blood work, whole body radiographs, ACTH test and checkups every 10 - 14 days. He also warned me cushing’s is very expensive to treat due to the constant vet visits and treatments.
I ’m always on alert for side effects from the medication as it’s a serious disease to treat. This is Not my thing to ask for help but I definitely need help to save my sweet Valentino. Any donations is Greatly appreciated!! 🙏🏻 You can find my fundraiser on facebook named “Life-Saving treatment for Valentino”. Or under my FB page Nikki Lala. God bless.
